Visitation for William J. Dunlavey, 69, of Bourbonnais, will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday, with an 8 p.m. wake service, at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.

Deacon Mush Marcotte will officiate. Inurnment will be in Maternity Cemetery, Bourbonnais.


He died Friday (Feb. 4, 2005) in the emergency room at Provena St.Mary's Hospital, Kankakee.


Mr. Dunlavey was a retired rural mail carrier for the

Bourbonnais Post Office.


He was born Aug. 7, 1935, in Chicago, the son of John J. and

Cecelia McMahon Dunlavey. His parents are deceased.


His wife, the former Bonnie J.

L'Ecuyer, whom he married Oct. 19, 1957, in Kankakee, died July 1,1999.


Surviving are four sons, John and Debbie Dunlavey of Bourbonnais, Douglas and Michelle Dunlavey of Kempton, David Dunlavey of Bourbonnais and Dennis Dunlavey all of Bourbonnais; one daughter, Barbara Sander of Bradley; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Gloria and Robert Thompson of Ontario, Calif., Mary Jane Calvert of Simi Valley, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


His stepfather, Francis Eddy; and two brothers, Jim and Bob, are deceased.


Mr. Dunlavey served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1957. He was a member of Maternity BVM Catholic Church. He was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association and a charter member of the VFW Post 9561 of Bourbonnais.

He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing.
