US Congressman. He graduated from Lehigh University in 1887 and took a post-graduate course in mining engineering. He was employed as a chemist, held supervisory positions with several steel companies and ultimately became engaged in the manufacture of structural iron. In the Spanish-American War, he served as first lieutenant of Company F, Twelfth Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was elected as a Democrat to Congress from Pennsylvania, serving from 1899 until his death in 1902.
