Daisy Elizabeth was born in Troy, Wolf River Township, Doniphan County, Kansas, Aug. 21, 1879. She was the first child, and the only biological daughter, of William Perry Dittemore and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hargis. Daisy was about 11/2 years old when her brother William Henry born in 1881. in February of 1883 she was 3 1/2 when her mother gave birth to twin boys, George Wesley and Warren Lesley. However her mother, Elizabeth, developed a fever and passed away in May and baby Warren passed away in August of that year. This left Daisy, William Henry and George, all under 5, and William Perry in the household. William Perry went on to marry twice more and 8 more sons and a step sister. One son by 2nd wife and 7 with his third wife. One son with his third wife died at the age of three in 1899. On February 24th 1897, at the age of "18" (the age Daisy insisted on, though she wasn't 18 until August) married John Hardin Hettick. During this time in Kansas typhoid fever was prevalent and many a "family" member passed away. Always the big sister, Daisy was there for her brothers & 1 step sister, helping take care of the children and the families. Family verbal history has that Daisy lost several babies, herself. She lost three shortly after birth for which we have records but also had had several miscarriages. Three of her children survived her. See below -

Newspaper.com has articles of the birth & death for Gerald in 1898 and Lawrence in 1915..
The family Bible had both Gerald and Lawrence names, showing Gerald died at 6mo and Lawrence not long after he was born.
There is some question on just how many miscarriages Daisy had. We do know she did have a hard time and sadly lost 3 that we know of.
