Justin C. Underwood, 74, of New Hampton, died Saturday, Aug. 16, at Mercy Medical Center of cancer.

He was born July 20, 1934, in New Hampton, son of Claude and Carmelita Brown Underwood. On July 2, 1951, he married Mary Wiley at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Hampton.

Mr. Underwood attended New Hampton High School. He worked for Earl Drewelow in Boyd for three years, then purchased a farm north of Fredericksburg where he raised minks and turkeys, retiring in 2002. After moving into New Hampton, he worked at the New Hampton City Cemetery. He was a former president of the Hog Producers Association.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Mike of Evansdale and Ron (Deb) of New Hampton; three daughters, Connie (Gene) Parson of Charles City, Carol (Doug) Davies of Meadow Vista, Calif., and Sharon (Steve) Kipp of Fredericksburg; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Karen) of Chicago; three sisters, Lola Gilbert of Waterloo, Donna Petersen of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Kay Carolan of Minneapolis; and a sister-in-law, Jeanette Underwood of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Mary Ann Underwood; a brother, Claude Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Gilbert and Bob Carolan.

Services: 6 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Center, New Hampton, with burial in New Hampton City Cemetery. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, with a 4 p.m. rosary. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.
