Willard was born in Dollar Bay, MI, on March 20, 1915, a son of the late Henry and Amanda (Keranen) Alcenius, and spent his early years on the family farm. In 1961, he moved to the Chicago area, later living in the State of Ohio.
Following his retirement, he returned to the Copper Country to make his home in Hubbell.
Mr. Alcenius was employed by Horner Flooring Co. of Dollar Bay for 6 years. In 1957, he worked for the Baltimore & Ohio Chicago Terminal Railroad Co. as a fireman. He retired as an engineer in 1977.
He was united in marriage to the former Ellen Makkonen, and she preceded him in death on December 24, 1997.
Preceding him in death were: his parents, 6 sisters: Hilda, Allie, Elsie, Lempi, Lenore, & Mae; His wife, Ellen.
Surviving were 2 Step Daughters:
Mrs. Ilona (Russ) Messner of Hubbell Mrs. Charlotte (George) Leinonen Jr. of Clarkston
Grandsons: Craig, Scott, Chris, and Kyle Messner, Cory Leinonen & Grand daughter: Jodi (Leinonen) Mason.
