Bertie C. Solinger, 85 year old resident of Genola, MN passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Kenneth Brenny officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Pierz. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz. Christian Mothers Rosary along with Pierz American Legion Auxiliary prayers at 4:30 p.m. followed by Parish Prayers at 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Bertie C. Sollinger was born on November 10, 1926 in Buckman, Minnesota to the late John & Mary (Denzen) Mueller. Bertie was born on November 10, 1926 to John and Mary (Denzen) Mueller in Buckman, MN. She was united in marriage to Raymond Solinger on January 26, 1949 at St. Michael's Church in Buckman. They lived in Genola all their married life. Bertie belonged to St. Joseph's Parish in Pierz, where she was a member of St. Joseph's Choir, a communion minister, and chapel assistant at St. Mary's Villa. She was a 50-year member of both the Catholic Aid Association and the Christian Mothers, and served as President of the local Christian Mothers' Council. She was city treasurer for the village of Genola, and belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. Bertie was a graduate of St. Francis High School in Little Falls and St. Francis School of Nursing in Breckenridge. She enjoyed ceramics, making quilts, playing cards and bingo, making trips to the casino, and spending time with family and friends.

Bertie is survived by sisters, Mary Tholen of Pierz, and Anna Helms of Fargo, ND; children, Cheryl (Bob) Halvorson of Fargo, ND, Paul (Kitti) of Pierz, Gary (Linda) of Buckman, David (Donna) of Buckman, and Jayne (Beth) of Minneapolis, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by loving husband, Ray in January 2012; parents, John and Mary Mueller; brothers, John, Roman and Joe, sisters Hildie, Jolie and Florence.

Active Pallbearers will be Derek Halvorson, Jon Halvorson, Kirk Halvorson, Mark Solinger, Ryan Solinger, Luke Solinger, Michael Solinger, Shane Solinger, Jake Solinger, Zach Solinger, and Eli Solinger. Honorary Pallbearers will be Billie Michaels, Jodie Saehr, Kelly Solinger and Emily Solinger. In lieu of flowers, Bertie's family requests donations to Holy Trinity School, Pierz Villa, or your favorite charity.
