Last Monday morning an employee of the Post Percheron outfit named Elmer Deer, while engaged in breeding at the middle ranch, was kicked in the abdomen by a wild mare. Deer was warned by the men to be careful as the mare was wild, but, not heeding it, he went up and slapped her across the rump with the above results. After being injured Deer started for the ranch, but after riding a short distance he was forced by the pain to give up, and the men procured a buggy and took him the balance of the way to the home ranch. At first he refused to have a doctor, believing that the injury was but a slight one and that he would be all right in a day or two.

On Tuesday Manager Force sent for Dr. Stevens, who found that Deer was bleeding internally, and, while stating that Deer could not survive, gave him some medicine to ease his last hours.

At dinner time, on Tuesday, Deer walked up stairs and partook of a hearty meal, and at 5:30 o'clock that evening he became unconscious, and died an hour later.

Deer was a general favorite with all, having worked for the association for the past three years. He was a trusted employee, sober and reliable, and always at his post. His death is deeply deplored by the management and his fellow employees. His body was brought into the city last night and was buried in the association lot.

The deceased was from Kenosha, Kansas, where his parents now reside. They were notified yesterday morning, and at their request the body interred here.
