Services for David C. Eckhardt, 94, of 407 E. Eight St., will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, in the Wiederspahn Chapel with the Rev. Edwin Huber officiating. He died Tuesday in DePaul Hospital.
He was born in Frank, Russia, Dec 15, 1884, and had lived in Cheyenne since 1912, working as a carman for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the Zion Congregational Church and of the Carmen's Union.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline; six sons, Jacob, of Kimball, Neb., Alex, of Dix, Neb., David, of Rockford, Wash; Manuel, Salina, Kan, Reuben and John Eckhardt, both of Cheyenne; step-children, John, Milton, Albert, Edward, Robert and Donald Wagner; a step-daughter Irene Ehrlich; 13 grandchildren; 24 step grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 22 step great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.
He married Anna Marie Schmidt on Jan. 5, 1905, who died July 3, 1950. He then married Carroline Kramer on July 10, 1951.
Burial will be in Beth El Cemetery.
