Frederick Edward, better known as "Fritz" Bolln was the second of 5 children born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to German immigrants, my great grandparents, Ehler Bolln and Cecelia Ulrich Bolln. My dad, William Edward Warren, said his Uncle Fritz started school in Cheyenne in about 1903. He spoke mostly German. Fritz, when teased, being of an aggressive nature, quickly developed his natural talent for fighting. As Fritz grew older, he repressed this aggressive tendency to the times when he was fortified with spirits. Fritz was "the apple of the eye" of his father. He worked on his father's cattle ranch about 10 miles out of Cheyenne. Alongside him worked his nephews, John Von Kennel, Bill Warren, and James "Doc" Costello--as evidenced in photos. He spent his adult life with his long-time love, Goldie Loreen Kitchen. They had an infant son, born stillborn, on January 14, 1926, at Cheyenne Memorial Hospital. They didn't have any more children. His World War II registration described him at the age of 45 to be 5'8 1/2 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds. His eyes were gray, his hair brown, and his complexion light. Tragically, he died in 1942 from an explosion in the basement of his home in Carpenter, Wyoming. He died of histamine shock due to significant burns over 40% of his body. He was buried at Bethel Cemetery in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Pallbearers at his funeral were Harry Earl Warren, Forrest Warren, D. C. Crowl, Earnest Green, David Stephens, and Hans Peters.
