Anchorage resident Charlotte Becker, 90, died April 3, 2008, of natural causes at home while surrounded by her family. A rosary was said at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and a Mass of Resurrection. Interment was afterward at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery. A reception took place at the home of family friends.

Charlotte was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Newark, N.J., to Walter and Josephine Wysocki. Her childhood years were spent in upstate New York. Charlotte was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II, praying over each bomb she made that it would be the one that would end the war, her family wrote. "She was a homemaker, a fabulous cook, and was very involved in church-related organizations and activities," they wrote. "She was known by family and friends for her great sense of humor, fun-loving way, and her love of singing and dancing. She was devoted to her family and was known as the provider of candy and treats to her grandchildren. Charlotte also loved to read and study the Bible. One of her most memorable moments was a personal audience with the Pope John Paul II in Rome." Charlotte was married to Nelson Becker in 1939. Due to his lengthy military service, they lived and traveled worldwide. Her daughters, Karen and Margaret, were "blessed" to have her in their homes in Ione, Calif., and Anchorage for her remaining years. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson.

She is survived by her sister-in-law Violet Becker of Oriskany, N.Y.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Ron Salbato of Ione, Margaret and James Egan of Anchorage, and Patricia Koncur of Detroit; grandchildren, Laurie and Scott Nesmon, Matthew Weeks, Tracy and Philip Bento, Michael Weeks, Shannon and Robert Battles, Kathleen and Andrew Rzeszut, Sean and Beverly "Sue" Egan, Jennifer and Randy Hughes, James and Alicia Egan, and Stephanie and Chris Dempsey; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was expecting her first great-great grandchild in May. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Anchorage and St. Patrick's Church for their kindness, assistance and guidance. Arrangements were provided by Witzleben Funeral Home. Visit the online memorial at legacy.com
