Clifton was the 6th great-grandson of James Warren, a native of Scotland who was captured at the Battle of Dunbar by Oliver Cromwell's forces and sent to Boston, arriving in 1651 and subsequently sent to Kittery, Maine.

Clifton was also the son of Stephen and Henrietta (McLucas) Warren, one of eleven children, and a father of five.

He will forever be remembered by his family for the love he showed everyone, as well as his never ending passion for gardening. No one ever visited him during the harvest season without going home with all the tomatoes, cucumbers and assorted vegetables they could carry.

Most of all, he enjoyed life, and he wanted it to be fun for everyone. His playful teasing was his trademark. He loved to tease and joke with everyone; his family, friends, waitresses, his doctors and nurses - everyone, and that continued until his very last day here with us.
