US Congressman. An ironmaster, with extensive iron interests in Centre County, Pennsylvania, he was one of the proprietors of Hannah Furnace. Having served in the Pennsylvania State Senate, he was elected as a Democrat to Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of William W. Potter, serving from 1839 to 1841. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1842, he retired from political life and active business pursuits.
