Arthur was born in Lawrence, MA to English immigrants Edward Taylor Jackson and Martha Ridgway. His parents brought him back to Hyde, Cheshire, England before 1878. He returned to Lawrence in 1888 with his parents and siblings. Arthur's siblings were: Frank, Alice, Minnie, John, Florence, Mabel, Ernest, Percy, Chester. Arthur worked in the Lawrence, MA textile mills all his life. He married Florence Bairstow on Dec 21, 1899. They had 5 children: Ellison Bairstow Jackson, Mildred E. Jackson, Milton Ridgway Jackson, Margaret Alice Jackson, and Gertrude Jackson. He was an accomplished pianist, loving classical music.
