Son of Lazarus Hanesbary Odom and Mary Ollie Barron-Odom.
Husband to Johnnye Seeds-Odom, Father to Johnny Dwayne, La Juana, and Mary Ellen.

Jess spent his life serving his country as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. The following is a poem written by his Mother, in honor of those serving in the military.
He is buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia Texas.

"In honor of Our Bous with the Colors Our Service Flags."

Our service flags with the blue stars.
In the Windows of our homes.
We look at them from day to day
And wonder if our boys will ever come home.

And then we see our neighbors
The Blue star turned to gold
We know if the War should end today,
Their boy cannot come home.

We think of these dear lads of our
As little boys at home.
It's hard to think of them as men,
Gone awy to Whip the Hun.

Our heads are bowed with sorrow,
In Sympathy today
For These Brave boys we loved them too,
Our neighbors of yesterday.
