At an early age he crossed Long Island Sound in an open boat, landing on the north shore of Long Island (Setauket area) and adopted it as his future residence. Later he moved to Patchogue and married a woman named Nancy Jayne. They had three children, Chadwick, Nelson C. and Peter. This monument is in memory of the Danes family by John R (Jack) Danes, Peter's Great, Great, Great Grandson. June 2002.
