Jack and Dorothy moved to Douglas, Arizona in 1933 where Jack was a resident until 1939. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South California at Los Angeles and Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University in Louisiana. He served his internship in pediatrics in Cincinnati, Ohio. During World War II, he obtained the rank of major in the Army Air Force Medical Corp. Jack was an honorary member of the Texas Medical Association, past President of the County Medical Society [1964], member of the Board of Trustees for the Houston Academy of Medicine [1966-1969], and a life member of the American Academy of Pediatrics [1970]. In 1971 he received the Award of Merit and Distinguished Service Award from the Texas Pediatric Society. Jack was also a member of the Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce [1963], the Southwestern Historical Society, the Texas Society [1963], the National Society of the American Revolution [Honorary Member].
After retiring Jack and Dorothy moved to Burton, Texas, where they joined St. Peter's Episcopal Church at Brenham.

"Dr. Jack Hild, age 88, of Houston and formerly of Brenham, TX died Monday, August 24, 1992. Dr. Hild was born February 27, 1904 in Waco, TX. He was the son of John Matthew Hild and Gretta Elizabeth Fauber. He married Dorothy Aileen Dreaper on October 26, 1933, Houston, TX. Dr. Hild received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South California at Los Angeles and Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University, Louisiana. Dr. Hild served his country during WWII attaining the rank of Major in the Army Air Force Medical Corps. Dr. Hild was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Aileen Dreaper Hild; his parents, John Matthew Hild and Gretta Elizabeth Fauber Hild an dhis daughter, Lisbeth D. Hild. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Hild Schaefer of Marble Falls, TX; his son, John D. Hild of Lexington, MA; and five grandchildren. Interment was held at Glenwood Cemetery. A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, august 27, 1992 in the Settegast-Kopf Chapel, with the Rev. Ed Stein and the Rev. Robert Johnson officiating."
