Occupation: Disciples of Christ Minister
Note: Allen, with six other families, emigrated from Alabama in the fall of 1842 to Shreveport, Louisiana. They came by boat. In Shreveport, they left the boat, bought teams, tools, and a few milk cows and made their way across the country to Robertson County, Texas. They settled down on a little creek called Duck Creek, at the edge of what was called Bald Prairie, and it was there that John Daw Jackson was born. In 1861, when the Civil War broke out, Allen and three of his sons were in the war. Two of the oldest boys did not come home and are buried in Richmond, Virginia. Allen was a minister in the Campbellite Church, later known as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
