Alexander "Alex" Gillingham was united in marriage to Martha Gillingham. This union was blessed with at least one child.

Mr. Gillingham was a Civil War volunteer soldier. He served as a Sergeant in the second Pennsylvania. Late in 1888, he traveled from Kossuth County, Iowa to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to reside in the National Home DVS where he eventually passed out of our world.
