Clair C. Long, 55, of 69 Peppermill Road, Bloomsburg, died at 6:50 p.m. Monday at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he had been a patient for one month. He was ill five years.
Born in Hemlock Township, he was the son of Mrs. Cecelia A. (White) Long with whom he resided and the late Charles C. Long.
He was a lifelong resident of Columbia County and was employed as a farm laborer much of his life. Mr. Long last worked at Fairchild Farms, Briar Creek, for 13 years, retiring in 1985. He was previously employed on the former Norman Derrick Farm, Unityville for 11 years.
His wife, the former S. Joanne Shultz, died Jan. 29 1985.
He was a member of the Buckhorn Fire Co.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two daughters: Janice Young, New Columbus, Stillwater, R.R.1; Mrs. Michael (Tammy Jo) Smith, Shickshinny; a son, Brian C. Long, Berwick; and nine grandchildren.
Also surviving are six brothers and sisters: Edward A. "Ted" Long, Bloomsburg; Mrs. Charles (Edith M) Kitchen, Bloomsburg R.R.9; Clarence E. Long, Buckhorn; Mrs. John (Kay D) McCloskey and David L. Long, both of Bloomsburg; and Terry R. Long, Buckhorn.
Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Dean W. Kriner Inc. Funeral Home, 325 Market St., Bloomsburg, with the Rev. Allen F. Acor, Buckhorn United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Columbia Hill Cemetery.
