Ambrose Grandaddy King got his middle name when he went to school. The teacher asked him "Little boy, what is your name?" and he replied "Ambrose" the teacher asked "what is your middle name?" and when he replied that he didn't have one, the teacher told him that he had to have a middle name. When the teacher asked him who he was named after, he said "Ambrose" and when the teacher said "and what was his middle name?" he said, "Grandaddy" --and thus came the new middle name. He was a veteran of the Civil and the family has some stories about him in a Tennessee battle.
He was a well known man in his town and he married Amanda Jane Hudson in Belmont, Oh on 12/23/58 at age 21. They had 9 children, Martha Josephine (Jose), 1860-1943, William Rosenkrantz (Mage for Major) 1861-1948, Nettie Grant (1865-1916), Phillip S. ( 1866-1869), Charles Sherman (1868-1954), Mary Alice (Mame) (1871-1953), Emily Danford (1873-1961), Elizabeth J. (Lizzie) (1875-1889) and Katherine Maud (Kate) 1879-1971.
Ambrose died in Barnesville, Oh at age 75
