Roy Manual Carter, was born 21 Apr 1929 in Anadarko, Caddo County, Oklahoma. The son of Joseph Clarence Carter and Willie Marie Miller. He was the younger of the only set of twins. His brother was Troy Mansuel Carter. He married Beverly Marie Butterfield, on 19 Mar 1947. They were divorced about 1955. But this union was blessed with three children, Wanda Kathleen, Cassandra Ann, and Gregory Roy Carter, who died 19 Feb 1971 in Vietnam, and was buried in Belmont Memorial Park, Fresno, California.

Roy married Patsy J. Gipson in 1957 and they divorced in July 1968. Roy then married Lois M. Price on 5 May 1970. They divorced in Dec of 1977. Roy was last married to Connie Louise Johnson on 20 Dec 1980. This marriage also ended.

Roy died 1 Aug 2008 in Fresno, Fresno, California.

A memorial was held at the Veteran's Hospital Chapel in Fresno, California on Saturday, Aug 9, 2008. It was at Roy's request the song "In the Garden" was sung by his family. His cremation was handled by the Neptune Society of Fresno, Ca. His ashes are being held by the family.
