Marvin Amend Killed in Calif. Car Accident

Marvin Archie Amend, 28, son of Henry Amend of Lost Springs, died Saturday afternoon at Fresno, Calif., of injuries received July 17, from a two car head-on collision at Fresno.

Mr. Amend was accompanied by his wife at the time of the accident. She was seriously injured and is in intensive care. He died at the Medical Center in Fresno July 18.

Funeral services for Marvin Archie Amend, 28, of Fresno Calif.were held at the Tinkler Mission Chapel (Fresno) July 22. The remains were taken to Lusk for services with burial in the Lusk cemetery.

He was born in Lusk, Wyo., Dec. 22, 1941, to Henry and the late Gladys Amend of Lost Springs, Wyo. He attended elementary school in both Converse and Niobrara counties. He graduated from Niobrara County High School in 1959. He was a member of the band, chorus, thespian, and was on the track team.

He attended the University of Wyoming for two years and while there was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. He completed his college education at the Fresno City College, Fresno, Calif., and graduated with a degree in electronics.

He worked in Fresno at Pacific Gas and Electric from the time he graduated until he went into the army, Oct 26, 1966. While in the service, he served as an instructor in electronics. He was honorably discharged from the service in October of 1969.

On January 4, 1969, he was married to Patricia Longren of Sea Bright, N.J.

After his discharge from the service they moved to Fresno where he continued employment with Pacific Gas and Electric.
