Joshua David was the son of Jesse David and Sarah Gaines Harry.
Joshua A. David first married Sarah Elizabeth Beard on Dec. 7, 1865, in Polk Co., Tx. They were the parents of two sons.
After Sarah Elizabeth died in 1869, Joshua married Fannie Wallace on April 13, 1870, in Polk County, and they had several children.
Joshua A. David was a Confederate Veteran of the War Between the States.

DAVID, JOSHUA AUGUSTA
Born May 25, 1833, South Carolina. Died Sept. 18, 1895. Buried Beard Cemetery, Polk Co., Texas. Enlisted Sept. 9, 1861, Livingston, Texas, as a private, COMPANY F, 4th TEXAS CAVALRY, REILY'S REGIMENT. Residence-Livingston, Polk County, Texas. Occupation - farmer. Mustered in at San Antonio, Sept. 25, 1861. Horse valued at $150; equipment at $25. Shown present for duty until honorably discharged, February 29, 1864.
