Verna LaFern Ashby, age 89, passed away April 10, 1999 in West Valley City, Utah.
She was born June 6, 1909, in Murray, Utah, to James and Clara Meyer Lundberg. She graduated from Murray High School and the University of Utah, with a teaching degree. She taught elementary education for 14 years. She married Delbert George Ashby on January 22, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She was a member of the LDS Church, serving actively in the Primary, Relief Society and choir. She had very strong religious beliefs and was always encouraging you to do what the Lord wanted. She was always very happy and pleasant to be with. If you needed a friend and someone to trust, she was always there.
Thanks to all ward members for their compassionate service, and the doctors and nurses. We love you and will miss you.
She is survived by her husband, Delbert; son-in-law, Ivan Lee Labrum; granddaughters, Charla and Leslie Labrum; sister, Mercy Ledingham. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother, and daughter Janet Labrum.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 14, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the Condie Park Ward Chapel, 4251 South 4800 West. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.
Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
