Julia was 87 years old when she passed away at the Palm City Nursing Center in Stuart, Florida of Alzheimers. She was born in Craven County, NC and moved to Pompano at the age of five. She was a pioneer of Pompano and a member of First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach since 1938. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Murray Eugene Spear. She is survived by 2 daughters, Gloria Salisbury of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Barbara Whitehouse of West Palm Beach, Florida; 1 son- in -law, Ross Whitehouse; 7 grandchildren: Mark Salisbury, Teresa Slaughter, Lisa Smythe, Ross Whitehouse, Wayne Whitehouse, Renee Keith, Sherry Whitehouse; 19 great grandchildren and 5 great -great- grandchildren. Her love and devotion of family will be greatly missed. Contributions may be made in Julia's memory to Treasure Coast Hospices, 1201 SE Indian Street, Stuart, Florida 34997. The family received friends Wednesday, August 13th from 6-8 pm at Kraeer Funeral Home on Federal Hwy. in Pompano Beach. Her funeral service was at 1:00 pm on Thursday at Kraeers with Buddy Spear and Doug Knight presiding, both nephews of hers. Interment followed at the PB Cemetery. Julia was a sister -in -law of mine and one of the sweetest persons you would ever want to meet.
