s/Walter & Eunice Durkee Pease
Edward W. Pease and his brother William Henry Pease left Vermont and settled for a time in Cloverport, Breckinridge County, Kentucky where both married. Edward married Ann Lois JENNINGS in 1845. The couple with their children, Laura, Mary, and George then moved to Kewanee, Illinois, where three more children were born, Eunice Ann, Jennie Mariah, and Elizabeth Frances.
Edward enlisted into Company A, 124th Illinois Infantry on 9 Aug 1862 in Kewanee, Illinois. His wife Lois died 2 Feb 1863 leaving several minor dependent children. Subsequently Edward was discharged 18 Mar 1863 in Memphis, Tennessee.
After getting his children settled in with relatives, on 18 May 1864 in Kewanee, Illinois, Edward re-enlisted into Company H, 134th Illinois Infantry. He was discharged 15 Oct 1864 in Chicago, Illinois.
Edward moved to Clinton township, Kansas and married Mrs. Sarah Gardner. In time they divorced and Edward moved to Lawrence, Douglas, Kansas where his brother Charles lived.
Received Union Civil War Veterans Disability Pension of $24/Month for lung disease. Suffered a stroke 3 years before he died.
A Veterans stone was provided for delivery to Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence, Kansas. But request card to stone maker not marked that stone had been delivered.
