Tobias Oakman was born 1664 in Scarborough, ME. He was the son of Samuel Oakman and Mary Boarden. In 1690 he was taken captive by the Indians; and worked for Walter Gendall at the time he was slain by the Indians. He most likely moved to Marshfield between 1690-97 where he married Elizabeth Doty. Together they had 8 children: Faith, Samuel, Elizabeth, Sarah, Susanna, Mary, Mercy, and Edward. On November 27th 1730 he established the boundry line between Falmouth and North Yarmouth. The white rock on the shore of Casco Bay is the point where the line commences between Falmouth and Cumberland. Tobias, died 16 June, 1750, in his 86th year.
