Confederate Civil War Veteran. Charles Wesley Phifer, born 1833 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, was the son of Gen. John N. Philer & Ann Phifer (his parents were cousins). His parents are buried in Coffeeville, Mississippi where they last resided.

According to "Civil War High Commands" by John H. & David H. Eicher, his appointment to Brigadier General in the Confederate States Army was not confirmed. He is also listed as a member of the Delta kappa epsilon fraternity in 1854.
