Betty W. Belmore, 86, of Fredericksburg, Virginia died peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2007, at her home.

She was born October 2, 1920, in Crozet, Virginia, to the late Warren and Marguerite Washington.

A long time Navy wife to Commander (Retired) Brainard J. "B.J." Belmore, Betty was an extremely generous and selfless person, constantly giving of herself and her time to those around her. She attended Mary Washington College and spent many years employed as a civil servant, arranging moves for military personnel. Betty and B.J. were married 65 years and long time members of Christ Episcopal Church in Spotsylvania, Virginia.

Betty was preceded in death by her son, Brainard J. Belmore Jr.; and brother, Colonel (Retired) William R. Washington.

Survivors include her husband, B.J.; a sister, Frances W. Thigpen of North Carolina; daughters, Beebe Belmore of Warrenton, Virginia, and Suzanne Belmore of Fredericksburg, Virginia; granddaughters, Briar S. Bogin and Emily Watt; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Blake Bogin; grandchildren, Garrett Tomzak, Amanda Regas and Julia Tomzak; and great-grandchildren, Colin Tomzak, Nora Regas and Hailey Verbeten.

A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2007, at Christ Episcopal Church with the Reverend Jeff Packard officiating. Interment will follow at 4 p.m. at Hillsboro Baptist Cemetery in Crozet, Virginia.
