Lawrence Chieftain Oct. 14, 1915:

Halterman - Jesse F., resident of Mo. since 1880 d. St. Louis Fri. from operation. b. Champaign Co., OH April 13, 1845. At age 16 enlisted in Co. B 20th Ohio in 1861; captured at Atlanta and was prisoner at Andersonville 7 months. Md. 1872, Indiana, Miss Mary Guy (Grey) who died 1884; 3 sons, Arthur, Guy, Harry & 1 dau., Mrs Lillie Alexander. Came here 1880 with mother and her 2nd husband Wm. Arnett. Md. 1886, Miss Agnes Martz of Verona; 2 children, Isaac & Mary. Was descendant of Hessian who surrendered at York Town in 1781. Was shoemaker in Mt. Vernon.
