It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin, JOSHUA GUTIERREZ, 23, of Las Cruces on Saturday, August 9, 2008 in Las Cruces. He was born September 19, 1984 in Albuquerque to Paz H. Gutierrez and Nyron Hoisington. Joshua was a tower hand and a member of Living Word Fellowship Center.
Survivors include his parents, Paz H. Gutierrez and wife Maggie of Victorville, California; his mother, Nyla Nyron Byrd of Lancaster, California;two brothers, Omi Amos Gutierrez of Las Cruces, Emilio Gonzales of Lancaster, California; three sisters, Amia Gutierrez, Nyla Hoisington and Denise Smith all also of Lancaster, California. Other survivors include his paternal grandmother, Hortencia H. Gutierrez of Las Cruces; seven nephews, Patrick Williams, Victor Escalante, Jr., Deon Crayon, Omi Joshua Gonzales, Isaiah Escalante, Julian Gutierrez and Anthony Gomez; a niece, Marissa Murillo; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Julian T. Gutierrez.
Visitation for Joshua will begin at 11 AM Friday, August 15, 2008 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road where the Funeral Service is scheduled for 2 PM. Concluding Service and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue with Pastor Willie Gutierrez officiating.
Serving as casket bearers will be Moises, Joel and Aaron Gutierrez, Jr., Jesse Chavez, Gabriel Ramirez and Julian Olivas. Honorary bearers will be Alex, Jacob and Hector Gutierrez, Jr., Ernie Garcia.
