John C. Schwisow of Jansen, died Thursday, March 25, 1976, in the Veterans Hospital at Lincoln at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 10 days. The son of William and Mary Milius Schwisow, he was born Dec. 15, 1895 at Daykin., Nebr. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church, east of Daykin. He was an Army Vereran of World War 1 and a member of Jansen American Legion Post No. 385. On Jan. 6, 1921, he was married to Dora Zieman and to them five children were born. They farmed in the Daykin and Jansen vicinities until retirement in 1969, when they moved to Jansen. Surviving are his wife Dora, of Jansen, sons, Donald of Lincoln, Willard of Beatrice, Dewayne of El Paso, Texas, and Howard of Sarasota, Florida, daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Leondard Hensen of Sarasota, Florida, sisters, Mrs. Martha Mees and Mrs. Lela Mumby , both of Fairbury, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothrs and one sister. Funeral services were March 29 afternoon in trinity Lutheran church in Jansen with Rev. Thomas Hepting officiating. Military services at the grave in the Fairbury Cemetery was by the Jansen American Legion Post. Pallbearers wee Ray Zimmerman, Walter Sears, Fernand Rahe, Victor Blobaum, Clyde Lucking, and Elmer Grummert.
