Anita I. Wright, 60, a lifelong resident of Aberdeen, died at Pacific Care Center, Hoquiam, Saturday August 9, 2008. She was born in Aberdeen, September 4, 1947, the daughter of Tuure H. and Edith (Maki) Moilanen. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1965 and Grays Harbor College in 1967.
During college she earned her way by being an elevator operator in the Finch Building, which led to her employment with Preszler, Larner, Mertz and Company. She was with them when the company moved to the new offices in the Sea First Building. In 1980 she first retired, but continued to do annual tax preparations for Don Bowers and Ken Snyder until 2004.
Anita was married to Jim "Fuzzy" Wright on April 6, 1968 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and they made their home on East Market St. where Anita had lived all of her life.
Anita organized and founded the Aberdeen Ladies of the Elks in 1985 and served as its president for two and a half years. She has served as its secretary to the present time. She was also presently serving as the Inner Guard for the Aberdeen Elks Lodge and was also a member of the UFKB&S, Lodge No. 9, Aberdeen, and the Aberdeen Eagles Auxiliary. During high school she was a member of the Rainbow for Girls.
She enjoyed cross-stitch and working the dinners at the Elks Lodge, serving as the cashier. She also enjoyed the social activities at the Lodge.
Besided her husband of forty years, Fuzzy, Anita is survived by her mother, a brother, and a grandson. A son, Sean, was killed in 1995 in an accident in Anchorage, AK while stationed with the US Army.
A time of visitation will be from 9 to 5 on Wednesday, August 13th and on Thursday, August 14th in the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home.
A formal memorial service followed by a celebration of her life will be held at 7:30 PM Thursday, August 14th at the Aberdeen Elks Lodge on South Boone Street. Private inurnment will take place in Fern Hill Cemetery at a later time.
