Cary Lynn Newbold, 57, our loving and respected husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah from complications following a Cerebral Hemorrhage. He resided in Sandy, Utah at the time of his death.

He was born on Tuesday, April 17, 1951 at the Cottonwood Maternity Home in Murray, Utah to Shirley Eugene Newbold and Colleen Asay. Cary married Bonnie Jean Tueller in Sandy, Utah on August 11, 1984. Their marriage was solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple on June 7, 1986. Cary loved to hunt, fish, travel and ride his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He was a volunteer at the Sandy City Arts Guild and worked at Doug's Shoot N' Sport in Taylorsville, and retired from Jordan School District in 2006 after 36 years of service. An active member of the LDS Church, belonging to the Hillcrest First Ward. Cary was currently serving as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River LDS Temple; he also served as a bishop's counselor, financial clerk, high councilman, ward mission leader, and stake executive secretary; but his most cherished calling was that of husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors: wife, Bonnie, Sandy; children, Jodie Fisher (Kirk), West Jordan; Michael Newbold, Murray; Matthew Newbold (Kristy), Tooele; Richard William Godfrey (Susan), Scottsdale, AZ; Brett D. Godfrey (Liz), West Jordan; Neil L. Godfrey (Sherry), Mesa, AZ; 18 grandchildren; parents, Shirley and Colleen, Midvale; brother, Barry Newbold (Sherry), Sandy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Newbold.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Hillcrest Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 8485 South 1000 East in Sandy, Utah. A viewing was held at the Church on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday morning from 9:45 until 10:45 AM prior to the Funeral Services.
Cary was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at the Sandy City Cemetery in Sandy, Utah.
