WHORTON Joseph "Joe" Edward, age 63, of Midwest City, was born July 26, 1936 in Wesley, Arkansas to Walter Whorton and Ruth (Taylor) Whorton. He passed away on Monday, November 8, 1999. Joe served in the U.S. Navy as a Fireman from March 1956 to October 1957 and was in reserves for four years on U.S.S. Oak Hill, L.S.D.7. He was employed by Sinclair Oil Corp. located at 5936 S. Sunnylane Rd., in Oklahoma City until his death. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Wharton of Carthage, MO; his wife of 41 years, Mildred Whorton of the home; four sons and their wives: Gary, Douglas, Rodney all of Oklahoma City and Thomas of Tecumseh; two daughters, Shirley Stiles of Meeker and Stacey Tabor and husband of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by one brother, James Whorton of Carthage, MO; three sisters: Mildred Hall and husband of Oklahoma City, Mary Cornett of Nixa, MO, and Grace Goforth and husband of Mount Vernon, MO; 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Whorton, one daughter, Betty Mills, and four grandchildren.
