Colston Charles Blanton, 86 years of age, of Mount Vernon, Kentucky, departed this life on Monday, October 2nd, 2006 at the Rockcastle Hosptial.


Colston was born on September 7th, 1920 in Spiro, Kentucky, son of the late Andrew Jackson Blanton and Maggie Schutts Blanton. He was a member of the Ottawa Baptist Church, having been a Sunday School Teacher for 28 years; He was a member of the Armed Forces, being a Sargeant in the United States Army; He was a thirty year employee at the Bluegrass Army Depot, holding the position of Ammonition inspector. His hobbies included being a carpenter/builder.


Colston was survived by his loving wife, Margie Dean Lawrence Blanton, whom he married on May 1st, 1948; one son, Charles Wayne (and his wife, Shirley) Blanton; six grandchildren, Karen Huff, Sharon Cromer, Bobby Daniels, Brenda Daniels, Susan Blanton, and Hope Blanton; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Walker Blanton; two sisters, Anna Bell Hasty and Mattie Blanton; and a host of other family, friends and neighbors who mourn his passing.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Jackson and Maggie Blanton; one daughter, Patty Elaine Daniels; two brothers, Everett Blanton and Carter Blanton; and two sisters, Elizabeth Roberts and Alzie Miller.


Visitations were held on Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Marvin E. Owens Home for Funerals and again on Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Ottawa Baptist Church.


Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ottawa Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Craig officiating.


Burial followed in the Freedom Cemetery in Spiro, Kentucky.
