From December 6, 1928 issue of the Fulton County News, McConnellsburg, PA. - "Brush Creek - Mr. and Mrs. Phil Barton of Colorado have been visiting friends in Fulton and Bedford counties. His mother, Mrs. P. D. Hixson will accompany them to their home."

Note: Katurah A. Barton was the daughter of Roda Barton, we do not know who Katurah's father was. Katurah's father may have been an Akers (see 1880 census).

Thanks for posting a JPG of the obituary for Katurah A. Barton. I noticed many inaccuracies in the obituary:

1. They have her first name as Keturah. Her tombstone shows her name as Katurah.

2. Her birthdate is shown as August 7, 1859. Her tombstone in Akersville Methodist Cemetery shows her birthdate as October 10, 1858.

3. Her death is shown as May 15, 1938. Her tombstone shows her death as May 18, 1938. The obituary shows her funeral was on May 17, 1938. Makes you wonder if the date of death on the tombstone is right.

4. The obituary lists her as the widow of Barton Hixon. Barton was Katurah's maiden name. She was actually the widow of Philip Doyl Hixson.

5. The obituary lists her as the last of her family. She was actually survived by her illegitmate son, Phillip Barton, who committed suicide on November 13, 1938 in Sterling, Logan County, Colorado.

Mrs. Keturah A. Hixon

Mrs. Keturah A. Hixon, widow of Barton Hixon, died at the home of Mrs. John Ross in Riddlesburg on Sunday, May 15, 1938. Death was due to a complication of diseases.

She was born on August 7, 1859, and at the time of death was aged 79 years, 7 months and 8 days.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church at Akersville, Fulton County, on Wednesday afternoon, May 17, 1938, at 2 o'clock. The Rev. A. L. Wynn, of Six Mile Run, officiated. Interment was made in the Akersville cemetery. Huff's funeral service.

Mrs. Keturah Hixon

Mrs. Keturah Hixon, widow of Barton Hixon, died at the home of Mrs. John Ross at Riddlesburg, May 15. She was born Aug. 7, 1859, and was the last of her family.

Funeral services were conducted at the Akersville Christian Church, Fulton Co., Wednesday afternoon by Rev. A. L. Wynn of Six Mile Run and interment made in the Akersville cemetery.
