Daughter of George Isles and Mary Ball, wife of John Brown and mother of John Dallas, George Stanley, Albert, Gladys, Rachel (married Burton DeGraff) and Alice Brown (married Timothy Patrick Healey). Sister of George Isles and Jane Isles Bragg.

In 1910, Martha, aged 38, could be found living on Nottingham Avenue, in Brookhaven, with her husband, John Brown, aged 39, and children, John D., aged 10, George S., aged 9, Gladys, aged 6, Rachel, aged 4, and Alice Brown, aged 1. Her husband, John, was shown no occupation.

In 1915, Martha Brown, aged 45, born in England, was shown living on Nottingham Avenue, in Brookhaven, with sons Dalas, aged 15, Stanley, aged 13, Gladis, aged 11, Rachel, aged 9, Alice, aged 7, and Albert Brown, aged 6. She had been in the United States for 22 years.

In 1930, Martha, aged 60, widowed, was shown living in Patchogue, with John D. Brown, aged 30, Stanley G. Brown, aged 29, Gladys Brown, aged 25, Alice Brown, aged 21, and Albert Brown, aged 20. It stated that she had emigrated to the US in 1888.

In 1940, Martha, aged 71, was living on Jennings Avenue in Patchogue. Living with her were her children; George S., 35, Gladys, 33, Rachel (Brown) DeGraff, 30 and her husband, Burton DeGraff, 34, and their son, David DeGraff, shown as a lodger, 12.

In July of 1950, Mrs. Martha Brown, of Maple Avenue, who had been a patient at the South Side Hospital, returned to her home.

Obituary - Mrs. Martha Mary Brown, 84, of 37 Maple Avenue, Patchogue, died Saturday at her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Brown was born in England and had been a resident of Patchogue for about 49 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal church in Patchogue. She is survived by three daughters; Miss Gladys Brown, Mrs. Rachel DeGraff, and Mrs. Alice Healey, all of Patchogue; three sons, J. Dallas Brown, G. Stanley Brown, and Alfred Brown, all of Patchogue; a sister, Mrs. Jane Bragg, in England, and six grandchildren. The body reposed at the Pettit Funeral Home in Patchogue, until 2 p.m. Tuesday, when services were held at St. Paul's church with the rector, the Rev. D.K. Ciannella, officiating. Interment was in Lakeview cemetery in Patchogue.
