Phyllis Marie Wineinger of Palisade died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at St. Joseph, MO after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 61 years old. Phyllis was born on October 27, 1944 in Benkelman, NE to Harold and Margaret (Hanes) Merklin. She was a homemaker and was very active in all of her children and grandchildren's lives.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harold and Margaret Merklin; one brother, Warren Merklin; an infant sister, Dorothy and one daughter-in-law, Alberta Nolan.

Survivors include her three sons: Jimmy Nolan, Ervin Nolan, Jr., and Daniel Nolan, all of St. Joseph, MO; special friends, Ervin Nolan Sr., and Warren Wineinger of St. Joseph; ten grandchildren: Crystal and husband, Bobby Vette, of McCook, Jim Nolan II and wife, Dianne, of McCook, Nina Nolan of Wauneta, Katrina and husband, Sean Baker, of McCook, Derek Nolan and Cain Nolan of St. Joseph, Joey, Joby and Lacey Nolan of St. Joseph, and Ervin Nolan III of Kansas City, Mo.; great grandchildren, Lane and Kelcie Vette, Brittanie Nolan, Branden Lucas and Hailea Baker; one sister, Hattie, and husband, Jim Shreve, of Hastings and one brother, Wilber Merklin and wife, Joyce, of Bird City, KS.

Memorials may be given in her name. Funeral services were Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Chapel with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Burial was in the Palisade Cemetery following the service. Carpenter Breland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
