Raymond W Olsen was a 2nd lieutenant navigator aboard a U.S. Army Air Force B-17 Bomber that was shot down over Hungary by a German fighter aircraft on 26 June 1944. Declassified Army Air force records indicate that Raymond was killed along with the pilot, co-pilot and bombardier when the aircraft exploded after being hit. His body was returned to the United States in 1949 and buried in the National Cemetery at Rock Island Illinois.
