Citizens & Georgian - Montezuma, GA. October 26, 1983

Mrs. Maxie English Rooks, age 100, of Andersonville, Georgia, died Thursday, October 10, 1983, in the Montezuma Health Care Center. Funeral services were held at 3:00 pm Saturday, October 22, in Whitewater Baptist Church. The Rev. Homer Fowler and the Rev. Gene Wilson officiated. Burial was in OGLETHORPE MEMORIAL GARDENS.

Mrs. Rooks was born April 19, 1883, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Jack English. She was a retired postmistress, the oldest member of whitewater Baptist Church and the wife of the late Joe Rooks.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. L. C. Myers of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two grandsons, Phillip Myers of Atlanta, Wallace Myers of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three nieces, Mrs. Homer Fowler, Mrs. M. C. Nelson and Mrs. M. B. Cheek, all of Oglethorpe; two nephews, Heyward Smith of Moultrie, Clarence Justice of California.

Pallbearers - Honorary Pallbearers - Not Copied. Watson-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
