Jesse Meredith was the 5th of 10 children of Obadiah and Rebecca Draper Meredith. He was born in what was then Monongalia, Virginia (later West Virginia).
Jesse married first, Sovena Horn, daughter of Christian and Mary Wolfe Horn, on 12 November 1822 in Knox County, Ohio. They had two children: Christian H and Rebecca. After the death of Sovena in 1825 Jesse married Polly Beaty, daughter of Levi and Sarah Meredith Beaty. Jesse and Polly had 17 children together and lived out their lives in Coshocton County then Morrow County, Ohio.

Gravesite Details

A veteran star for the Civil War is beside the stone to show his service in the war as a captain. He also served in the Mexican War as a captain. He also served as a state representative in 1841-2.
