SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. --- Preston Minor Dean, 81, died Wednesday, March 24, 1999, in Satellite Beach.

Mr. Dean was born in Hartsville, S.C. He retired as Lt. Col. from the Air Force and was a decorated World War II veteran with 28 years of service. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross as recognition for his achievements as Commander of a unit of B-17 "Flying Fortresses."

Survivors include his wife, Erin Barthes Dean; a son, Preston Mark Dean; a daughter, Allison Dean Russell, all of Satellite Beach; and three grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Biloxi City Cemetery, with full military honors. The Howard Avenue Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi is in charge of arrangements.
