Lieutenant Horace George Hambright was a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1892. He was a cadet at the United States Military Academy from June 16, 1888 to June 11, 1892 when he was graduated and promoted in the Army to Second Lieutenant of Infantry, 22D, Infantry, June 11, 1892.

Garrison duty at Camp Merritt, Montana, August to November, 1894 to September, 1895.
On leave to January, 1896.
Garrison duty at Fort Yates, North Dakota, to April 15, 1896, when he was thrown by his horse and killed.
