MRS. S. D. WHITE, 83, PASSED AWAY TUESDAY
Burial at Second Mt. Pleasant

Mrs. Phoebe Jane White, age 83, widow of Samuel D. White, died Tuesday morning at 3:15 at her home on Hurricane street. Mrs. White had been seriously ill for the past two years with heart trouble and her condition had been critical for the past three months….. Burial will be made in the family lot at the Second Mt. Pleasant cemetery. …
Mrs. White was born August 23, 1850, in Shelby county, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Willard. She spent her young girlhood in Shelby county. after her marriage to Samuel D. White she made her home in the Second Mt. Pleasant community, until with her family she moved to Franklin about thirty years ago.
Five children were born to this union, four sons and one daughter. Two sons survive, Otis White of Franklin and Carl White of Stockton, California. Four grandchildren, Cecil White of Stockton Calif; Jean White of New York City; Mrs. Golda Mossop of Franklin; Miss Betty White of Shelbyville, and one great granddaughter, Miss Kathryn Mossop of Franklin, also survive.
Mrs. White was a member of the Second Mt. Pleasant Baptist church later becoming a member of the First Baptist church of Franklin. She was active in the affairs of her church until her final illness. Mrs. White was a devoted wife and mother, giving her entire time to her home. She had a large circle of friends in the community.
