AUBURN - Pauline E. Bailey, 88, of Auburn, formerly of Waverly, died Tuesday Jan. 6, 2004, at St. John's Hospital.

She was born May 7, 1915, in Carlinville, the daughter of Morris and Ella Raye Adcock Loveless.

She married Everett William Lowder in 1932; he died in 1970.

She married Earl F. "Red" Bailey in 1974; he died in 2002.

Mrs. Bailey and her husband Everett operated a restaurant in Waverly for several years. She retired from Mobil Chemical.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors: five sons, Donald "Peanut" and Dale Lowder, both of Virden, H. Wayne Lowder of Franklin, Bob (wife, Mary) Lowder of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Bill Lowder of Waverly; two stepdaughters, Donna Morrison of White Hall and Linda Clark of Carrollton; three stepsons, David (wife, Joyce) Bailey of New Douglas, Marvin (wife, Marilyn) Bailey of Hettick and Earl Ray (wife, Rhonda) Bailey of Medora; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Eilene Kruse of Virden and Shirley (husband, Jerry) Wasilewski of Athens.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Neece Funeral Home, Waverly.

Burial: West Cemetery, rural Thayer.
