Bruce Norris Dies Suddenly In Sanitarium

Body Will Be Brought Back to Frankfort; Funeral Will Be Sunday

Messages received in this city yesterday reported the death of Bruce Norris, former Frankfort business man and for many years a resident of this city. Death occurred in the Eastern Illinois Sanitarium at Urbana, Ill., and resulted from a complication of ailments following an operation to which he submitted several weeks ago.

Although not in the best of health, Mr. Norris had been about this city for several months on a visit but shortly after going to Urbana where he had resided for several years, a blood clot developed in his right knee and amputation of the leg became necessary.

For a time it was believed Mr. Norris was improving and until a few hours before his death he was believed to be on the road to recovery. His death came as a shock to both members of the family and friends.

Mr. Norris, who was about 78 years of age, was engaged in business here for more than 53 years and was both a pioneer resident and a pioneer in the retail business. In early manhood he engaged in the retail drug business and for many years was in a partnership with the late D. C. Bryant.

Was Druggist Here

Later he embarked in business by himself and with the opening of the Ross block, he established one of the biggest and best modern stores of the kind in this part of the state. He continued operation of the business until a few years ago when he disposed of the store and business to the John Moore Drug Company.

Mr. Norris was a native of Clinton county and practically all his life had been spent in this city. Only recently he went to Urbana, Ill. To make his home.

Mr. Norris is survived by his wife, one son, Clinton Norris of Hammond, Ind., Miss Katheryn Norris of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Edna Killsberry, of near Urbana, Ill.

The body will arrive in this city this afternoon and will be taken to the Goodwin funeral home where it will lie in state from four o'clock this afternoon until nine o'clock tonight.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Goodwin funeral chapel at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, Rev. H. L. Crain officiating. Interment will be in the Green Lawn cemetery beside the grave of a daughter which preceded him in death several years ago.
