Gary Duane Hart was the youngest of seven children born to parents, Ora Lee Hart and Lena Malinda Worley. He married first to Barbara Ann Gregory and second to Barbara Ann Carroll. He had two children, Toni Gayl and Christopher Duane Hart.
Duane, as he was called, taught school for many years in Corbin and later was the personnel director for American Greeting Cards. He was shot in the year 2000, while exiting his home to go to work early in the morning. He died two days later. The person thought to be responsible was tried and acquitted due to lack of evidence.
