Mary Charlotte Moomau is the daughter of Grover Thorton and Cecelia Margurite Dorsey Moomau. Raised in Ridgely, WV just across the state line from Cumberland, MD. She had one brother, William Dyce and one sister, Vivian.
After a long freindship she married John George Grove, Jr in St. Johns Lutheran Church, Cumberland, Allegany, MD on April 30, 1923. Their only child John George Grove III, Jr. was born January 18, 1926. In 1930 Mary and George left Cumberland and moved to Pennsylvania, Michigan and California and Arabia before returning to Maryland in the mid 1950s and in 1969 retiring to Florida. Upon her husband's death in 1970 she again returned to Maryland to live with her son where she remained until her death.
