At her home in this village yesterday evening at 6:30 o'clock, February 3rd, occurred the death of Mrs. Henry Gassert. Death was due to Diabetes with which Mrs. Gassert has been confined to her home the past five weeks.
The maiden name of the deceased was Louisa Densch and was born in Caledonia, Houston County, Minn., near LaCrosse, Wis., on November 24, 1858. Her age at death was 67 years, 2 months and 10 days. She remained at Caledonia with her parents until she was 20 years of age when the Densch family came to this county to make their home.
Louisa Densch was married to Henry Gassert on April 25, 1878, in Pierz after which Mr. and Mrs. Gassert made their home on the Gassert farm at Lastrup until they moved to this village where they resided since. Their union was blessed with twelve children, ten of whom survive the deceased. The children are Mrs. Barney Faust and Mrs. John A. Virnig of Lastrup, Mrs. George L. Boser and Mrs. Joseph Brausen of Buckman, Mrs. Nick J. Meyer of Pierz, Fredrick Gassert of Little Falls, John Gassert of Moose Lake, Louis Gassert of this Village an Hnery J. and Edward Gassert at home. She is also survived by her husband and one brother, William Densch of Sacramento, California. Mrs. Gassert was the grandmother of 32 children and the great grandmother of one child.
The funeral service will be held in St. Joseph's Church in the village Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Feb. 6th, after which the remains will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's cemetery here. The bereaved family have the sympathy of a large number of friends.
